symmetry question

Is there a way to snap tools to an origin (like you would in maya).

My issue is when using insert brushes it’s difficult to know if im drawing them at the “center of my model”.
Because of this the symmetry function gets thrown off slightly.
So is there a way to snap an insert brush to an origin before I dynamesh it?

Thanks, -paul

You can go to tool-geometry-position and set the axis that you are using for symmetry to 0 (normally X)

Thanks for the reply but I don’t think this solves my issue because if the mesh I insert is not perfectly centered then it throws of the “center” of the model. Therefore even if symmetry is set to 0 I cannot sculpt symmetrically on the model even with local symmetry. The problem is whether or not there is way for me to snap an insert brush to “zero” before I remesh/dynamesh it.
If not then even if the rest of the model is perfectly centered the inserted mesh throws off the greater models true center even if just slighlty, and then symmetry no longer works. Hopefully I am making sense, I’m pretty new to Zbrush.

I appreciate your response & in fact all of your responses to the community.

There is a normal snap of the insert mesh to the nearer vert, you could use this snap to choose a vert in the central axis.
If this is not enough you could split the insert mesh, center it and merge it again.

thank you
