Symmetry Problem- Please help the noob

Hi Everyone,

I am trying Zbrush for the first time today so have been playing around with the demo head. The problem I have is that no matter what I do, I can’t turn off the symmetry so that my adjustments will only affect one side of the head.

On the flip side of that, when I try to create my own character in a new document, I can’t turn the symmetry on. I am guessing it’s got something to do with going into the deformation menu but nothing I am trying is working.

I am using ZBrush 3.12 on a Mac.

Please help!

Look into the Transform menu, there is a section starting with activate symmetry. Under that there are the options for symmetry x,y,z and radial.

Symmetry by axis can also be toggled on and off by pressing either x,y or z on the keyboard also.

Deformation has the smart resym and resym but those are used for creating a fully symmetrical models for example when you hide most of the model to reach all those hard to reach places and then want to transfer the created geometry to the other side of the model also.

Hi there, in order to switch on/off symmetry, go to Transform, click on activate symmetry and choose an axis. Now if you know that your symmetry axis is “x” just hit x on the keyboard to switch it on or off.

Hope that helps.

Thanks guys, I ended up working it out but couldn’t find my thread to delete it. Is there usually a delay between posting a thread to it actually being viewable online?
