Symmetry Problem [Answered]

Hello,

My first issue is that I’m halfway into finishing my base sculpt and somehow whenever I go to use symmetry with my sculpt it seemes my adaptive skin has gotten off center and so when I try and use symmetry it does fine on the right side but it is completely not matching symetrically on the opposite side of my mesh. I can’t seem to figure out why or even how to get the mesh back to a centered point so that I can sculpt symmetrically.

I was just wondering how in the heck do I fix this when it happens because it’s not the first time it has happend to me.

I am also having another isssue where whenever I start a new scuulpting session on that particular Ztool it loads in backwards meaning that its turned facing its back towards me when I go to drop it in and start working? Just wondering if anyone had any idea what this is all about and if not, at least you could maybe point me in the right direction in order to solve these issues!

Thanks Alot!

Regarding your symmetry problem, you have a couple of choices.

  1. You can use a Mask brush with the Rectangle stroke, mask exactly half of your mesh (good half), then go to ‘Tool > Deformation’, making sure ‘X’ is selected on the right side of the button first and ‘Y’ and ‘Z’ is off (default), click ‘Smart ReSym’.

  2. This is the easiest and most accurate way, simply go to Tool > Geometry and, making sure ‘X’ is selected on the right side of the button first and ‘Y’ and ‘Z’ is off (default), click ‘Mirror And Weld’ button. Anything on the left of center will be mirrored over to the right of center.

Regarding your mesh being drawn backwards.

After you draw your mesh on the canvas, go to Tool > Deformation, and, on the ‘Rotate’ slider, making sure ‘Y’ is selected on the right side of the slider first and ‘X’ and ‘Z’ is off, click on the word Rotate and a red box will appear. Using the number keys on your keyboard, enter 180 and hit "Enter’ to spin it 180*. After you save the tool and the next time you load it, it will draw in correctly.

Thank you for your tips zber2. I had been struggling with those two issues quite a bit recently and your reply helped me figure them both out once and for all!

Cheers!
