Symmetry off?

Hi so i recently started Zbrush and have been experimenting with the tools. All of them work fine apart from symmetry When i turn on symmetry wether it be x, y, or z and try to sculpt the lines aren’t parallel and do not draw across the object according to the the axis. I have looked on many forums and found no one with a similar problem.
Thanks.

Ill put a link to the screen shot. any help would be very appreciated

It IS symmetrical across the model. It’s just that your model is not oriented squarely on the canvas relative to the camera.

Symmetry operates relative to the model’s internal coordinate system. It never operates relative to the camera. As your model rotates in front of the camera, the symmetry points will be moving relative to the camera as well – but they’ll still be perfectly symmetrical across the model itself.

If you hold down the Shift key while rotating the model, it will be snapped to the camera’s plane. You’ll then see that the symmetry is indeed accurate.

Also, you might find the Axis plugin useful to quickly change orthographic views and to know which view you are selecting.
