Symmetry issues

I created an armored figure in ZBrush and retopologized the armor in 3Ds max. When I import the individual armored pieces back into ZBrush as sub-tools, the symmetry on the imported pieces is off center. This does not occur if I import the individual pieces as objects, only when I append them. The symmetry on the original figure is not affected.

What I have tried so far: Cloning the Sub-tools, using local symmetry, saving the obj. files as ztl. files and re-importing them, mirror, resym, smart resym and unify under Deformations, batch importing with sub-tool Master, and importing them individually, all to no avail.

How can I set the center line of the imported objects to 0.0 on the X axis? More importantly, since they were set there on Max, why did it change?

Hope someone can help.

Inside max try a “reset Xform” and collapse this on all of your object and then import them.

Also check your tool.import and tool.export settings inside of Zbrush.

beta-channel, Thank you for your response. I tried your suggestions but the problem persists. The obj files from Max are symmetrical when imported alone, the asymmetry only appears when these objects are appended as sub-objects. Is there a way to affect the import settings for sub-tools? Or else reset the sub-tool once it is appended?

Thanks again.

They shouldn’t be importing to the center.
Have you tried using goZ?

Beta, thanks for your interest in my problem. The problem persists even when I used GoZ, however, Paul Gaboury pointed out that if I use Mirror and Weld followed by Smart Re Sym, it will align it with the Z Tool I have appended it to. Thanks again for your help.
