Symmetry issue on asymmetric model

Hey,

I’m a having a bit of an issue with symmetry. I want to use symmetry on the legs, but not on the upper body. It’s not quite working however. The model is exported from max with the pivot in the middle of the legs, and the object is centered to the world on the center of the legs as well. Here’s some images:

Portion I want to use symmetry on:

Symmetry with C-Pivot:

Symmetry with S-Pivot:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

hide everything but 2 symetrical polygons on the legs or feet…the exact ones on each side.

then hit C pivot…or S…i don’t remember which one moves the model.

then unhide everything…should be all set.

Great worked like a charm! Thanks a ton

This looks very close to a concept I just looked at the other day by Anthony Francisco for project offset. I’m not sure if this is coincidence or if you meant it to be the same. Granted you just have a super low base right now, it just reminded me of it instantly and the silhouette is close.

Hey ryan good eye that is 100% what I’m modeling :stuck_out_tongue:

Cool man. I hope it turns out how you want it to. Just make sure you get permission and stuff. I’d hate to see you get into trouble over it. I’m not sure how strict the art usage for Project Offset is.

An artist can draw, paint, sculpt anything he wants. He can sell that one particular piece as art all on its own. There is a very thin line here, but still…

This goes back to Andy Warhol painting pics of Mickey Mouse and Campbell’s Soup cans.

He can make whatever he wants, I know. If he plans to use it on his reel or sell it though, I disagree that he can’t get into trouble. The concept art is IP of the Project Offset team, though. Even if he wins a lawsuit, no one wants to go through one. Just saying it’d prolly be wise to clear the air and give credit where credit is due first that’s all. Not trying to discourage.
