Symmetry in Projection Master and Polygroup Colours

Hello. I have two questions and thought I would post them n the same thread.

  1. I was wondering if it’s possible to automatically paint symmetrical textures in Projection Master?

  2. How do I set colours fr polygroups in Zbrush 3.1? I seem to remember that it is possible to do this. . .

Thanks in advance for any help. . .

  1. Turn on the double sided feature in projection master, then paint on the orthographic profile of the tool. You’ll have to do a little cleanup at the middle, but it still saves time. Symmetry also works in polypainting.

  2. Just isolate the part you want to group, hide the rest, and keep hitting the assign polygroup button. it will cycle through colors. stop when you get one you like. A color picker for this would be nice.

Thanks for the swift response. However. I have tried Projection Master, and although I see the Double Sided button, I am having another problem. For some reason, whenever I enter Projection Master, the currently assigned texture switches to off. So when I come out of Projection Master I am just left with a material all over the model set to the last colour I selected when painting in Projection Master. Any idea what is going on?

Does your model have UV mapping?

Ah yes- That was it. Thanks. By the way, in a similar vein. what happened to all the 2d tools usable in Projection Master? I seem to remember them from ZBrush 2, things like being able to paint with a texture (image file) and the snake hook brush, etc. Where have all the tools gone?

Scara6,

All of the old tools from ZBrush 2 are there in Zbrush 3.1 What you will need to do is drop your model into Projection Master. Then In the tools palette you should see the simple brush. Just left Click and hold on the brush and you should see a dropdown palette that has all of the 2.5D brushes you are looking for.

I hope this helps.

I think I get it. What confused me was that the brushes weren’t apparent on the left of the screen with the Alphas and stroke type as I remember. Now thatyou pointed me to the tools palette I found them, thanks alot.
