Symmetry dot question

Hello,

I know press “x” should able to get the symmetry dot so I can sculpture both sides of my model. However, pressing “x” doesn’t work for me. I do not get any symmetry dot so I can’t sculpture the both side at the same time.

Any ideas or advices on this?

Thank you.

transform>activate symmetry>select axis

Your object might not be set up for Zbrush’s x axis symmetry. Try turning on the other axis to see which one you need.

Ah, thank you so much for the reply.

I did what you said, and it works perfect.

Thank you.

Ok, I have one more question.

The symmetry dot works fine, but I noticed that it doesn’t work in masking mode. when I used masks (ctrl+mouse click), I could see the dot, but it doesn’t work on the other side…what can cause this problem?

Symmetry is not used when masking. That’s not user error; it’s simply how the system currently works. In this case I would recommend doing what you need on one side and then using Smart ReSym to copy the details to the other side.

Aurick,

Thank you for the reply.
I am following a tutorial dvd, and the instructor can use the sym dot function in mask mode too. I also noticed from looking his tool screen, L.sym key is off (gray not yellow) but he can use the sym dot function.
If I turn off the L.sym key, I can’t use the dot function…
Check the picture that I attached, and look at the white arrow. Without the L.sym key, I can’t use the sym dot function…but I can see the tutorial screen, the key is off, but the instructor still uses the sym dot function.

Please check the picture that I posted and tell me what I need to change.

Thank you again.

Aurick…sym isn’t used when masking?
gorillajin - are you talking masking on the model, or masking with the lasso or marquee

I am talking about masking on the models.

As you can see the picture, I am trying to use masking on my models, but sym doesn’t work in this mode.
Thanks.
