Switching from 32-bit OS to 64-bit OS

Hello. Using ZBR 3.1 on Prescision 690, OS XP-Pro, 2 Gig RAM.

I currently run the XP 32 bit OS and plan to replace it with the 64-bit to enable me to build out the RAM capabilities of the computer. I don’t recall if my ZBR which I bought in 2007 was for a 32-bit OS specifically, or if it will run on either OS. Are there different versions of the program – one for 32-bit and one for 64-bit operating systems?

Anyone know?

Thanks, T

It’s a hybrid. So you’re good on either OS.

ZBrush 3.x will use up to 4GB on 64-bit windows OS. Plan for 6GB or 8GB RAM to get the max out of Zbrush. (I’m using 8GB or more systems right now, but I like to have Photoshop or Modo open at the same time I have ZB open. GoZ (In the ZB 3.5 August release for PCs) will let you send models back and forth between ZB and certain ZB packages, so have the second package launched will make that workflow zippier.

Hey, thanks, guys. That’s great to know. I plan on building out the RAM to 6 gigs right off – I can’t wait. both ZBR and the other 3D program I use are really slow now when I am working on complex models.
