If I name surfaces on object like shirts, pants and give them color in lightwave and then bring in the model into Zbrush to do more sculpting, will the surfaces I saved in Lightwave still be good when I export it to lightwave? Will the surfaces I made in LW still be there?? Is there a way to do this??
It’s been awhile since I’ve tried this, and I don’t know if 3.5 is much different for importing objects made in Lightwave, but in 3.2 I was import .obj from Lightwave with the groups intact. BUT, I had to first convert surfaces to groups in Lightwave. When importing the .obj to ZBrush, it recognized the groups created in LW and treats them as polygroups. You can then work with them as you wish in ZBrush, so long as you don’t reassign the polygroups in any way. When you export the .obj from ZBrush, the groups will remain. Once you are back in Lightwave, you might have to convert groups to surfaces. Make sense? I hope so. It’s been awhile since I’ve done any work in Lightwave, but when I used to create Poser clothing in Lightwave, I would have to do this to work with the clothing in ZBrush.
Thanks very much, yes another friend also told me the same thing…i.e. Polygroups…I will try this…again thank you very much Slosh
