Surface Noise Crashes Zbrush (Mac)

Hoping someone can help me out with this. Zbrush 32 & 64 bit crash anytime I click on “Noise” in Surface Panel. I’m working on an iMac late 2009 with OSX el capitan. I can generate an error log if needed. Let me know if you need any more info. Thanks for any help!

Typically this problem forces to reinstall Zbrush

i had that issue…nothing solved it. then i got a new computer with a different graphics card and the issue went away…so i always thought that had something to do with it…but now that i see Altea mention reinstall… that just might be why mine got fixed…not because of a different card but a new install.

Hey, thanks for the input @Altea and @Zeddie. I tried a reinstall of Zbrush P3 and it still crashes when opening up surface noise. When I first reinstalled it though, surface noise worked fine. After copying over my Zmaterials, ZPlugs and ZSpotlights, the problem came back with a vengeance. This sucks because I used surface noise a lot. Really hoping I can figure this out soon. Thanks again.

Deleting the contents in “Users/Public/ZBrushData” folder should resolve this problem. Zbrush will create new folders in that directory upon restart. If you have custom UI or custom colors, temporarily move them somewhere else first so you don’t delete them.

I don’t think materials and spotlights is part of the problem. But what you have copied in Zplugs surely is.
Be careful don’t overwrite any default file of that folder. If you have yet the problem then the solution is to copy partially your plugins, for example only the half, until you discover what file is messing Zbrush.

meant to comment a few days ago. Got busy with work and stuff. I did what zber2 suggested and it worked perfectly. No more crashing. THANKS!!
