Superman Wip

Hi!
This is my first post here. I wanted to post a WIP of a superman model I started a while a go, I had a problem with the file but finally I rescued it!
I really like to have a superman picture with Christopher Reeve.
There is a lot of work to do yet, I’ll updated it as soon as I can.

Is a zbrush model rendered on Max with Vray

Thanks!

Hi there,

Really cool model, can’t wait to see the end result.
Could immediatelly recognise the late great christopher reeve,
the only crit i can give at this stage is that the head seams to small for the body and muscualture(especially in the legs) seams a bit too pronounced.
Otherwise looks great.

Keep it up.

Awesome! The first Superman is still one of my favorite movies of all time. Great job on modeling the muscles, although Christopher Reeve had a much sleeker build. He was muscular, but thinner. I’d love to see a close up of his face. He’s immediately recognizable!

Hi!

Thanks for your comments! As I said is a Wip, still have a lot of work for sure ;)

About the anatomy I wanted to be Christopher Reeve’s face. The body is pretty much the proportions of him but a little bit more muscular, more like a comic character I thought could be interesting

Thanks for you help!

great work!! i will be waiting for the updates!

really great likeness! great job, and the anatomy is spot on too… keep it up! :+1:

Very cool sculpt! It has a wonderfully rendered quality. The anatomy is there but not too obvous. It is very vivid. Very alive.

Lets see more.

I can’t wait to see the updates with texture and color. You have nailed Christopher Reeves. I am glad you managed to save the file. :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Great likeness. I really like the way you have kept the muscular detail nice and subtle rather than putting buldging ripped muscles.
I was wondering how long it would take before we started seeing the Superman models start coming out of the wood work with the approach of Superman Returns.

Hi there!

Since I’m a very big fan of artist work flow I thought I could show some of the steps I’m doing for this model, for those who like to see more than just a final picture

This picture is a hard shadow test on Max so I can see how the volumes are looking so far.

That one is the same test than the picture above

That one is a quick Over paint of a face render so I can see what I should change. Very good way I think to familiarize with Reeve’s face and finally I’ll use it as a reference to keep going modeling on Zbrush.

I hope you enjoy it, I’ll keep posting more steps.

Thanks!

That is fantastic! I love the workflow. Very cool use of the power of the computer while keeping all your traditional skills honed as well. The paint over process is very interesting.

Thanks for sharing.

You know, even untextured and undetailed I can tell he’s one of the best sculpture likenesses I’ve seen. The structure is spot on.

Your quick paintover of his face really shows the potential of how good this could turn out.

What a great model, and a welcome addition to these forums!

It’s good to see someone appreciate the Chris Reeves superman. He was perfect, even if the film is a bit dated, it still has a certain charm.

About the model: The likeness is very good! Recognized him right away

I seldom critique, being new around these forums, but being a long time artist, if I were to gently suggest… the physique is very good. Natural, and shows pleasant lines, along with a solid grasp of anatomy, and showcases your skills quite nicely. So first and foremost… WELL DONE!

If any suggestion could be made, it would also be along the lines as mentioned by others, in that Chris Reeve, although fit, is more “slender”, if that is an appropriate term, than the model as show presently. That’s all. Hope you take this in the spirit in which it is meant.

Please, please, finish this model. Looking forward to it!!

Cheers,

~Mr.M

Cool,great likeness and interesting workflow!

I do enjoy it !!! :+1: :+1: :+1:

Hoping for more, J .

Hi!

Thanks every one! I really appreciate you comments!! To me Reeve is the only human to wear the Superman suit ;)

About the body anatomy I’m agree with all the comments I have read here. Is just that now I’m focusing a bit more on the face.
I would like to make him a bit more “stronger looking” than originally Reeves was, but any way the body is still an “sketch” I’ll keep changing it until I reach what I’m looking for, slowly because there is a lot of technical thins that I don’t know

By the way all comments and crits are very welcome. Thanks! DavidMV

Ya te lo dije, muy bueno. Tengo ganas de verlo terminado.:+1: :+1: :+1:

Very nice work, and overall the lighting you are currently using is a great effect. I was never a big DC fan, but Batman and Superman are great characters and your version of Superman is wonderful. In fact your goal of a little extra definition shold actually improve the sculpt quite a bit as long as it remains subtle as the current work. Keep posting.

I have attached a ZIP file that may help you adjust and test lighting directly within ZBrush. I have added notes to make things easier to understand. Unzip anywhere you need to. In ZBrush, go the ZScript palette and press Load. Navigate to lightingTutorial_edit.TXT and press OK. Sit back and enjoy. Then let me know if it was useful.

We all are appreciating it so far.
I am looking forward to this one…

i think this is fantastic, especially after watching the original last night. the face looks as though its gonna be spot on but i have to agree with the other chaps about the bod not being slender enough. I think if you make it longer it’ll be perfect. no other criticisms, great work.
