Subtract parts of a DynaMesh with CurveLineTubes

Hello,

I know you used to be able to use the CurveLineTube brush to subtract from a DynaMesh. Now I can’t even manipulate CurveLineTubes properly and I can’t change the length of a CurveLineTube once I’ve drawn one. Subtracting doesn’t work even if I hit Zsub. Can anyone help?

Saw your post and tried doing a simple sphere sub on another sphere, all I got was add, even when sub gave the look of a sub on brush stroke, am using R6 , can someone with R5 still installed , try a sub and report back! DJ

See my post here for a possible workaround for a negative tube insert.

As to changing the length of the tube, move your cursor close to an end point of the curve. You will see a red line snap to the end point. When the red line is snapped, continue drawing the curve to legnthen it.

I used the dyna wax 128, instead of the dynamesh 128 sphere, worked as advertised , sphere, insert tubes snap, weird. Subtract and add. Dj

Thank you for all your replies!

zber2, your method works and it looks like I just found a way to do it without layers:

  1. turn on DynaMesh
  2. Insert a tube (I used the CurveMultiTube brush this time, I haven’t tested this with other brushes)
  3. Hit Zsub - not sure if this is necessary
  4. hold down left-alt and move/touch the tube. You will see some kind grid overlayed on top
  5. unmask (ctrl + left mouse drag) twice

I’ve tried this a few times now and it worked every time.
