After I both fill subtools with materials or paint subtools with materials or matcaps , save the tools close zbrush reopen zbrush , open the tool or subtools more then half the time it has reverted back to the redclay. Had this issue before a few years back after the next update all was fine. Well this time it is on 4r4 and what do you know but it has started again. Different computer 3 years later … In fact this time it actually saved half the subtool as a material and half went back to redclay … So I have spent over 3 hours trying to remedy this situation including rebooting numerous times, cloning the tool, painting the material on it saving it again, and appending it back to the original tool … save it again close zbrush restart it … The materials again after all that returned to red clay what and utter and disgusting waste of time. There is no use wasting our time with rendering in zbrush when we have to deal with this. The eyeballs I painted worked fine, the armor and teeth and gums , will only partly retain the materials assigned, filled and painted on them … I might as well forget the internal render engine and I should have just used goz to 3ds max and mental ray after all the time I wasted … Do I bill the client , do I eat the loss myself … If I want to keep this client then I eat it myself … Maybe I should have waited on the upgrade … Still is not saving out materials on all my subtools and it is not very many quads … The whole thing including all tools is less then 3 mil. with release 4r3 I have had projects up over 60 mil without going into hd … arrrggghy I went back in tried to open a different material from your site and damned if it did not assign that to the whole model … Blam there went my work day … Please fix these things in zbrush before you give it to us to use … I would rate this release as extreme unstable … it has crashed often .,… then I get the models many different as I have tested persistently out of the recovered file folder … sometimes then I go back to open it again … have to reboot the whole thing in order to open the previously saved versions which I have discovered that must be named different then others in a different folder … What a mess … my dell precision work station is less then 6 months old and I knew I should have waited ./… By the way I have been checking the updates for patches etc … This time at least goz is working great I have lost about 1/3 a days work time and one model out of all of it that I could not recover … 2 releases ago it was the turntable movies I could not get to work … but have not checked that yet on this one …
To top it off I applied and auto update earlier … Just to be sure that it is not on me tried and auto update to make sure there is not one cause I already applied it … well it tells me and update is available so told it go ahead it downloads tells me that bitrock is auto updating and then tells me that it cannot find release 4r4 … This is just mega annoying.
