Subtool won't accept paint

I have a subtool that for some reason will not accept polypaint. I’ve made sure there is no mask applied. I’ve filled the subtool with flat color and white for the M & RGB. No matter what I do it won’t take color. Other subtools take it fine, but this subtool won’t. Has anyone had this issue before? I’ve tried remeshing to see if that would help but it doesn’t. I tried to create uv’s but Zbrush crashes every time I try. Not sure what the issue could be at this point.

Although I could not get paint to apply, I did find a workaround I want to share in case anyone else runs into a similar issue. I basically exported the subtool out at the highest possible resolution. I then reimported the obj over a polymesh obj. I then appended that obj back into my main ztool and it allowed me to paint on the new subtool. I then deleted the old subtool. Not sure why this was happening, but at least this workaround resolved it. I just wanted to share in case anyone else has an issue with painting.

I’ve also run into polypaint not working anymore on a model. It’s quite annoying.

Just happened again on a subtool that was already painted but I needed to remesh on. This is getting really frustrating…

Is this a know issue where if you remesh after you’ve already polypainted that you can’t polypaint again?

Ok, I seem to have found a workaround. I duplicate the obj and then export it at level 1. I re-import it and run UV master. Once I’ve laid out the uv’s I copy and paste them onto my original subtool that has the layers and won’t accept polypaint. I then make a texture map using the uv’s. Once I’ve done that I then have polypaint create a polypaint from the texture map… and then I can polypaint again.
