subtool pallete - doubled icons

Hi I’m new here and was wondering wondering if anyone could help me out with a problem im having with my subtool pallete in zbrush 3.5r5

I was working on my model and was really into it and mabye hit the wrong button (as i usually do) and activated some weird doubled icon thing.

It’s a concern because when i got o subdivide my model subdivides, but the level slider shows nothing and i can’t go back and forth with out undo redo option.

please help!! thanks!

I don’t think you hit the wrong button this time. =)

I’ve never seen that before so it may be some kind of rare internal error.

How many subdivisions do you have on each of your subtools?

And when you save as new file name and reload it back in after restating Zbrush, do you still have the problem?

I hav 3 or 4 subdivisions, but I can’t see them. I asked my teacher about it and he doesn’t know either. He reinstalled it, but it’s still doing the same thing. I checked the file on another computer and it’s still the same.

I think like 3 or 4 sd levels. I asked my teacher and he doesnt know either. I tried the file on a nother computer and it’s the same. perhaps the file got corrupted?

Yeah, this rarely happens but I think you did in fact get your model corrupted somehow.

You say you cannot see your subdivisions? Does that mean you cannot see them on your model or is it that Zbrush is not showing them under tools, geometry?

If you can get your highest subdivision showing for each sub tool you can export each sub tool separately as an OBJ.

Then you would import each sub tool and do a tools, geometry, Reconstruct Subdiv to get your lower levels back.

You would do this for each sub tool, then do a tools, SubTool, Append for each one and then save everything with the normal tools, Save As.

By converting to OBJ for each sub tool you’ll remove any weirdness that happened, however it wont work if you cannot do it from the highest sub division level for each sub tool.

Let me know if you have any more questions. =)

Hey Degenerate Triangle,

Thanks for your help. To answer your question, the subdivisions showed up on the model but not in the subtool palette where they could be controlled by the scrubber/slider.

I tried what you said and it worked! And I do believe that the file became corrupted. But everything is well now. Thanks again!

Ok that’s great news!

You’re welcome. =)
