subtool master shift down

In the subtool master it would be useful to have ‘shift down’. It would work just as ‘shift up’ does, but it would move all visible subtools to the bottom of the subtool list.

I have never used shift up. I have always needed shift down. I often work on a few subtools, I move them to the bottom of the list, this way when I append something to the collection it appears WITH them, at the bottom of the list.

PS: subtool folders would fix this entirely. This is a little work around because there are no folders.

Thanks.

I’ll bear this in mind for the next update. But why don’t you use ‘Insert’ instead of ‘Append’. That will put the new subtool immediately below the selected subtool. It will be grouped with the subtools you are working on and you can select it by pressing the Down key once.

Ah thank Marcus. I forgot about insert (though I have used it long ago). As a matter of fact maybe you (Pixologic) could combine the two buttons for simplicity. Thanks again.

Oh, and by the way, my subtool lists are so long that I have set the up and down arrows to ‘shift the active subtool down (or up)’. That way I hold down the button to get the active subtool allllll the way down the list. Then I select another subtool and hold down the button again, etc, until I get my subtools arranged right. (because there are no folders)

Marcus, is there a way I can set this up: When I click the ‘append’ button, what actually happens is ‘insert’? Like a hotkey of a sort, but my LMB on the append button activates ‘insert’. Sounds weird but when I think of ‘insert’ I think of ‘insert mesh’ - which I use ALL the time. When I think ‘append’ I think of what it does, I just need it to do what the ‘insert’ does (puts the subtool within the list instead of at the bottom).

Thanks again.

Brandon,

Sadly there’s no way to set up the Append button so that it will behave like the Insert. The only solution I can think of is to assign a hotkey to Insert so you use it automatically instead of Append. (There are problems with using a macro/plugin button to ‘press’ the Invert button.)

I’ll pass on your comments to the development team.

Thanks,
