Subtool master - mirror/merge - loosing subdlevels

Hello all!

I have some trouble with the subtool master. I’ve mirrored and merged a shoe and all the subd levels remained for the newly merged 2-shoe subtool. I’ve mirrored and merged another subtool and all the subdlevels vanish. I’ve tried mirroring and appending as a new subtool, and both have all subd levels but as soon as I merge them it vanishes. 've also noticed that the uv’s get fubar with these subtools which have issues - the mirrored one, appended as a new subtool has uv issues.

Please help.

I don’t know what could be the problem

Yes, I too am curious as to why this happens. It seems that it only affects certain ZBrush primatives that are made into a PM3D. The primatives that can be made into a PM3D then mirrored and merged without losing their subdivision levels are Ring3D, Terrain3D, Plane3D, Polymesh3D and Gear3D. The rest will lose their subdivisions when mirrored and merged. The same applies whether you use Subtool Master or duplicate and merge in the Subtool palette. Why does it affect some primatives and not others? Is there a way to avoid this? Are we going to have to make all our own primatives and import them to avoid this?

You know, I loose the subdivisions when mirroring Zbrush retopoed stuff actually (haven’t mirrored any primiteves really, but good to know it happens to them also).

Another thing, I exported those that wouldn’t mirror without loosing all the subd levels (leaving only the highest), and did a new retopo of them in 3d coat and imported back to Zbrush, and it still presents the same bug. Like once touched by Zbrush, forever cursed by Zbrush
