Subtool master - Mirror error - messed up uv's of the mirrored subtool.[Answered]

Good day,

I have had this error in Z4 as wel as in Z4R2; For example, I build a subtool, or import it from external application, 3ds max in my case. Then I mirror it with the merge checked on. When done I export to uv layout and unwrap each separately. I then export maps and when I apply them on a lower poly model in 3ds max again, I get flipped uv’s on one side, but it’s not the mesh taht is flipped, but something is wrong on the texture when applied, or even when exported but I couldn’t tell.

Anyone else had this issue? Please help, it’s frustrating telling my clients to delete one side and mirror by themselves. In which case UV space of the deleted part which was buggy remains unused.

Thank you

SubTool Master doesn’t actually touch the UVs. They are therefore not mirrored. (This has been the case since the ZBrush 3.5 version.) If you want to mirror the UVs then you’ll need to:

  1. Mirror the subtool but append as a new subtool, not merge.
  2. For the new subtool, press Tool>UV Map>Flip U (or whatever combination is appropriate for the axis you are using).
  3. Make sure the subtools are next to each other in the subtool list and then use Tool>SubTool>Merge Down.

HTH,
