Subtool Master losing sub levels?

I am confused as to why I am losing my lower subdivision levels when merging two sub-tools. I merged two similar sub-tools with no problems. I am trying to merge another two and I am losing my lower subdivisions. I am left with only levels 1 and 2 (previously 5 and 6)

I cannot reconstruct lower subdivision levels, it says it runs into triangles. This makes me think some of my topology is being changed, and this is NOT what I want. I simply want two sub-tools in the same layer…

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure both SubTools have the same number of levels before you merge. Whichever one has less, add another. Or whichever one has more, go to level 2 and then delete lower.
