Subtool conundrum

Hey!

This is my first post on these forums! Zbrush is the best tool ever, I’m having a slight problem at the moment however!

I’m wondering what the best method to export a model from 3ds max (composed of several separate pieces) and then importing into Zbrush and have Zbrush categorize each mesh piece as a different subtool?

Thanks in advance,

André.

Assign separate Materials to each object or faces of your model that you want to be a separate subtool.

In Zbrush under Preferences/Importexport you need to enable Import Mat as Groups.

Then when you import your model it will be grouped up in zbrush polygroups according to the material domains you created.

Then go to your subtool palette and click “Groups Split” this will split your polygroups into individual subtools.

This is how I do it at least there’s probably another way or various ways. I just use this one personally.
