Subdivision Problem

Hi there,

I’m working on a sculpt originally created from ZSpheres and have run into a problem I have not encountered before.

After creating an adaptive skin, with a resolution of 2, I deleted the lower divisions and started shaping a bit.

So I get my low level shaping done and I go to subD it, and nothing happens, sort of.

If I switch on the wireframe, the wire appears to actually subdivide, but the mesh isn’t smoothed at all, and I don’t get an extra level of subdivision in the SDiv slider.

Any ideas?

I will post a SS if necessary but thought this might be an easy one for one of the pro’s to solve!

Thanks

You have SMT disabled in the Geometry pallet. Read up on it.

Hmm doesn’t seem to be working. Whether SMT is on or off, it doesn’t make a difference here.

Here’s what happens:

make sure you are not masking any part before subdividing.

Your going to want to subdivide that about two more times, and then make a normal map and use it with a shader. If you need more info pm me, I can help a little. (I’m not an expert on shaders)

Also if you do even one subdivision without smooth on, the following ones seem to bevel the edges.

definately sounds like u have mask on ok? sometimes ive noticed zbrush says mask is off when it is still on!
just a blip

If it’s not a mask you could always use the smoothing brush.

Thanks for the replies,

turns out it was a unnoticeable mask, clearing all masks seemed to fix it.

Thanks again.
