Subdivision Edgeloop Hybrid Modeling

I’ve just fineshed a quick head modeling study within ZBrush & it was blindingly fast! ok so there’s no ears, its just an experiment! I created my head template within truespace then exported it as .obj

  • i created a basic head mesh of 422 faces (No. of faces not Important) using edgeloops to lay down important detail areas

  • you may notice nonstandard faces, this is sorted by a quick subdivide (i used only one instance of subdivision)

  • after importing the template into ZBrush i gave shape to the head in the usual way

when i give it some ears (i hate ears!) i’ll make the template available people want it or find it usfull.

This is my first WIP on the forum & my first New Topic!

hi equalizer, nice head. there is also a method to get edgeloops with zbrush. developped by grub. and your ears are attached in one modeling session. i use that every time i model a head. very fast…

Thanks for the input peeps

kokoro
I checked out grubs tutorial it’s excellent, I gave up on my own zsphere experiment too early it seems I didn’t keep my zshphere model so simple doh!

I checked out those all your gallerys
The standard is incredibly high!

This shows the progress of the model

And here is the finished head

this shows how nicley the edgeloops turned out

I hope to post a ZScript of the modeling session soon.

 hello Equalizer… there is something i really don’t understand in this question of low poly! as the joined pict, if i begin modelling in low poly, ok, that works, but as soon as in want to have a smooth finish,(from 1 to 2) i must divide and come back to heavy models! how do you go to nice smooth models, staying in low poly? … thanks for explanation! friendly M[

Marced , I hope I can help out here

In the Modifiers Tab of your tool next to Smooth (which is set to 0 standard , hopefully 1 by you) there is another thingie Divide too which is set to 3 standard I think , Set it to 6 or 8 and it should be smoothed without you dividing it manually with the divide and smooth buttons.

 ah thank you the namek! i never consider theses options! it seems to have always something more to try in zbrush! amitiés M.

Hey equalizer. That’s a really cool way to set up edgeloops. Fantastic tip.
