Subdivide results in mesh split down middle...

Hi, I’ve got this model that I exported from Lightwave8.3 as .obj. I stupidly left some triangles in there which I think are causing the problem of the mesh splitting up as soon as I subdivide in Zbrush. Anybody know what I should do from here?

cheers

The two sides are not welded, so when the subdivision smoothing routines take place the edges contract and pull away from each other.

You can either weld the points in LightWave, weld them with ZBrush by selecting the Polymesh3D tool and setting those options in the Tool>Import menu, or after importing you can press Tool>Geometry>Crease. This last option does not weld the seam, but it does prevent it from contracting.

Cheers man, spot on. I’d never have noticed
