sub tool question from a newby

Hi All,

I’m very new to Zbrush and so far I’m loving it!!! I have however come across a bit of a problem that I’m hoping someone can help me with. Firstly I have had a good rummage through the forum but can’t find the answer I’m looking for. After sculpting a character I decided to make the eye as a separate polypainted sphere which turned out pretty well. When I insert it into my model the material of the eye (toy plastic) changes to the material the main model is made from. when I change the eye material back to Toy plastic the whole model changes too. I know there must be a way to have the eye one material and the rest of the sculpture as another but I just can’t fathom it out. If anyone can help I would be very grateful.

Make sure your RGB intensity is at 100%, turn M (stands for material) button just above the slider. Clear any masks. Then select a proper material and go to Color>Fill Object. Now you have material applied to your subtool so you can go back and select other materials or matcaps and this will not affect your filled object
