Sub tool export -?????

Hey all,

How do I export a single subtool???

Thanks a lot.

_K

select that subtool.

tool>export - near the top

everytime i try that it saves all of the subtools as well, even if they arent showing. :frowning:

It sounds as though you are using SubTool Master. There’s no need when you just want to export a single subtool. Simply select the subtool and then press the Export button that’s at the top of the Tool palette.

I wasnt using subtool master actually. Heres what I was doing. I selected the subtool I wanted to save, then turned visibility off for everything else. I clicked “save as” and renamed the file. When I opened it i noticed it was a huge file. I checked and saw that all of the other subtools were still there. :frowning:

I tried to export the subtool, but my only option was to export it as an obj.

What am I doing wrong???

Thanks a lot.

We misunderstood what you were wanting to do. ‘Export’ means saving out as an OBJ (or DXF) for use in another program. To save a single subtool for use in ZBrush this is what you do:

  1. Select the subtool. There’s no need to turn the others off.
  2. Press Tool>Clone (the button is towards the top of the palette).
  3. Select the cloned tool in the Tool palette. You will see that it has no other subtools.
  4. Press Tool>Save As and save with an appropriate name.
