Hey guys,
i was modeling in zbrush 2.0 and wanted to divide the head into a higher polygon count for better sculpting and detail using the inflat tool but i notice that the DIVIDE button is not showing up under the geometry section of the TOOLS menu. The only option that i have is SDIV set at 3.
Also the High Res button is greyed out.
I tried typing in a higher SDIV manually but still goes back to 3.
WHAT am i doing wrong? Anybody else having this problem and if so what am i suppose to do to increase the polygon count so that i can sculpt the model that i am working on into detail. OPEN to any suggestions at this time thanks family

If you are using a z-sphere model, you up the subdivision level under the Tool>Adaptive skin>density value menu item…

hey dickie thanks man. and yes i am using a zsphere model for doing a head of my character. I was aware of the density level to increase but i was wondering as well why the divide button isnt under the geometry section of the tools menu.
I increased the density to 5 but still no divide button oh well i will continue to sculpt this head out then… keep me informed if you know of how to bring back this DIVIDE button …hmmm
I believe the divide button only works for anything other than a z-Sphere…
Dickie
if you are looking at the geometry menu while in zsphere mode and not preview mode…it probably won’t show up…up your density of spheres…hit the A button to preview the mesh then go to tools:geometry and you should see the divide button
The Divide button is never available for a ZSphere preview. You should always use the Tool>Adaptive Skin>Density slider to increase the number of subdivision levels available. You then use the Geometry controls to switch between the available levels.
Divide, like Edge Loop, is only available for Polymesh objects. It’s not available for ZSphere previews because ZSpheres are an object generator rather than a true polymesh object. As a result, you use the parameters in the Adaptive Skin menu to control the geometric structure of the model. To have access to Divide or Edge Loop, you need to skin the ZSpheres first.
oh doh…auricks right…cuz it’s already divided for ya…dohhhhhhhh! Aminuts smacks head with frying pan hahahaa. Wake up kid!
thanks guys i needed that … and yes all was for zsphere modeling shoudl work now
hi
ok so i went to adaptive skin and i moved the slider from 6 to 7 but i lost all my details now. is there another way to keep my sculpting details and add more geometry
thx
