Struggling with basics.

Hey everyone, I’m new to Zbrush, although I have a background in Max.

I have searched for this but I can’t find ‘exactly’ what I want help with believe it or not, it seems like a VERY basic question.

How do I move multiple tools together?

I have a character, it has eyes… I move the character and the eyes dont move… How do I get around this?

Also, I just don’t get saving… I save a model as a ‘tool’ and on its own it loads brilliantly, with ‘eyes’ and everything but if I ‘append’ a ‘tool’ to a project then the eyes disappear.

Theres obviously some basics i’m missing here, but honestly it’s driving me mad as everything I try and do involves moving multiple tools around… and I cant.

Thanks for your time and patience for a noob.

Are you actually appending the eyes to the tool?

If you simply load the eyes into the Tool palette, they’re not part of the model yet. They’re just another piece of geometry that you COULD add to the model. Or you could use them as a brush to paint pixols on the canvas. In short, ZBrush doesn’t yet know what you intend to do with them.

To actually add them to the model, you need to use Tool >> SubTool >> Append. This will add them to the SubTools list.

There will still be certain things you can’t do to the eyes at the same time that you affect the rest of the model. You can move/scale/rotate the model as a whole on the canvas, but that doesn’t affect the geometry itself – only its relationship to the canvas space. You can’t directly edit all SubTools together. To accomplish that you would use the SubTool Master plugin (which is part of your ZBrush installation). This creates a proxy of the model that you can edit. When done, it will then translate the edits made to the proxy model and apply them to each of the individual SubTools. This lets you affect the relationship of each SubTool with each other. It’s not meant to let you actually sculpt all the SubTools at once.

I hope that helps!

It does help, thank you.

I am looking into the plug-in at the moment, thanks for pointing this out to me.
