Give him some more texture on his knees, almost like elephant skin. If he lived so long ago, he probably had to do a lot of maunal labor, was probably rough on his knees. Maybe some faint old scars. Hard to say without seeing the rest of the model.
It would be easier to make such decisions with the rest of the model to help you make them. Finish the model. Then ask yourself this question.
As for more detail on the knees, that is coming right up.
