Strange patterns appear on my mesh. Help!

Hi there,

I’ve been posing a mesh using Transpose in ZBrush 3.1. As I work, strange patterns have appeared on my mesh (see the snapshot below):

In the pic, the patterns are mostly on the left, but there is also a pattern appearing like an image of a staircase on the bottom-right.
At first these patterns appeared in small random patches, and I used the smooth-brush to iron them out, but now they’re popping up everywhere, covering half the mesh.

Any help at all would be much appreciated. In case it provides any clues, my system is a Boxx 7500 with an NVIDIA Quadro FX 1500 board, running XP Professional, SP2.

Cheers!

Dave

I’m a newbie myself. But I think that is when you transpose your model on a high subdiv-level.

The mesh has 5 subdiv levels, but the highest I’ve transposed any part of it at is 2. I may have moved a few bits at subdiv 3, I’m not sure. But if I did, they were small details elsewhere, rather than where the patterns have appeared. For example, I’ve not touched her face at all, but now she’s got weird scars on her cheek and chin.

Not a happy camper right now!

Hey there,

looks like you were right after all! I’ve just tried to replicate the problem by re-posing the mesh at sublevels 2, then 3. It works fine at 2, but when I repose any part of it at 3 I get the patterns appearing. The scarring on the face makes sense now too, as patterns are appearing on parts of the mesh totally away from the parts I’m re-posing.

And you call yourself a “newbie”, JiggyBeatz!

Many thanks.
