Strange lighting problem

So I’ve been working on this project for a while now, and the other day when I rendered using BPR the shadows and AO were all messed up. This didn’t used to happen. It looks fine using Best renderer, but I need to use BPR. I thought it might be something strange with my high-res details, but it does the same thing all lowest subdivisions. I’ve tried changing various shadow, AO and light settings with no improvements. It’s like the light is coming from the wrong direction.

Here’s a screen with the lighting and render settings. All subtools are filled with Softplastic, I’ve tried other materials, same problem.

Thanks in Advance for the help

just noticed that my model was really small on the gird (never turn it on) Resized everything up, didn’t change anything! Arg I’m at my wit’s end here.

I want to render my demo reel in Zbrush but at this rate that doesn’t look so great… It’s like there’s a giant object above the center of the model casting shadows and AO, but there’s nothing there!

I have also tried loading the Ztool into a new ZProject which didn’t help either…

so it’s not my subtools, only the main tool that seems to be causing it as it still does it in solo mode on the body but not on the other tools

I dunno if this will help but here’s the polyframe.

Okay, so I figured out it only does this when perspective is turned on.

Does anyone know how to fix this? or at least what’s causing it? It’s very frustrating

UPDATE: it seems related to the focal angle and not just perspective on/off. It seems the lower the focal angle, the less the over-darkening is, and vice versa for high values

okay so I think I might have fixed it, but I’d like clarification. In this render I adjusted the Vdepth and LDepth of both the shadow and AO. First, which should I be adjusting VDepth or LDepth? Is this even the correct method of solving this? Anything else I could be doing to control things better? lol, thanks if you’ve read all this, I’m new at rendering with the BPR :stuck_out_tongue:
