straight lines in normal maps

I need to understand somwthing about normal maps creation. here an example:

about the mouth line it’s fine and smooth but look at the bottom of the pict and see straight lines, not smooth. they seem to follow original poligons.

What method are you using to create the map, and what are your settings? Also, why is the map not a power of two in its dimensions? (For example, 1024x1024 or 2048x2048)

i’m using zmapper and 3dsmax settings (i’ve tried all 3dsmax7 and 2008modified).the map is power of two size.this is only a part posted for example :slight_smile:
