Stork and questioning upon feathers

Working on a stork model, and I have no clue where to begin with feathers. I’m trying to go for a semi-realism, so the model is cartoonish and such but the feathers look rather good. I was wondering if it’s possible to make feathers with fibermesh, but again, I don’t know where to begin. Any clues?

I think that MicroMesh would be a simpler way to go. Take a look at the MicroMesh01.ZPR sample project (under the Projects tab in Lightbox). It’s of leaves but the principle is the same.
