stopping zbrush from automaticly adding edges when importing obj

HI,
Is there a way stopping zbrush from automaticly adding edges when importing obj (non tri-quad) ?

I read on the help docs that only tr&quad polys are accepted in zbrush…and when 5 vertexes polys
and more… are imported then zbrush cuts these polys to add edges and make them 3-4 vertex polys…
is there a way to ask zbrush to avoid it?
Im asking because I have in max a fully rigged and animated model so I cant touch his poly count
and I wonder if I can use ZB to texture it better… I have tried that but when imported back to MAX
its not exactly the same model anymore after ZB changed it…
thank you for any suggestion…

Immediately after you import your model, store a morph target. Once you are ready to send your model back to the other app, switch back. All of your work should update on your model and cause no problems.

thanks for answering carver… Ive tried that…and zbrush adds the edges as soon as you press
on import and the icon of your model is displayed under Tool menu, Even before drawing it into the screen.
I know that because I also created a simple test object and the points number is higher then in max once imported…
as can be seen in the printscreen…If I misunderstood something in your explanation…please let me know…
thanks again

Your original model has n-gons. Zbrush does not support n-gons so it has to split the faces into additional triangles.
If zbrush doesn’t support them, it doesn’t support them so there is no way around it other than to not import n-gons.

hi
thanks richard
thats what I wanted to make sure of…that there is no by pass what so ever…
