Stop rotating canvas while sculpting

Hello,

Is there any way to stop the model from rotating every time you (accidentally or not) click outside of your model. For example, when sculpting the indents in the fingers, I like to start from outside the model, but this makes the model spin around and you need to set your model in the right angle (again) and start all over. Seems to happen a lot.

Is there any way to overcome this problem?

Hopefully someone can help me because I’ve search a lot on this question. It isn’s a mayor problem but it’s just annoying:confused:. So if anyone is having the same issue, let me know. Maybe I’m doing something wrong and could it be a simple fix?

You can try this:

  1. Ctrl+F to fill the canvas. You might want to select a color such as black before you do this.
  2. Set the color to white if necessary. Click+drag to redraw your model on the canvas, and then hit T to enter Edit mode.
  3. You will now be able to sculpt over the edges of your model without rotating it. You can reposition, scale, rotate etc. by clicking outside the canvas area.
  4. To clear the background hit Ctrl+N.

If you use Projection Master, the model is dropped to the canvas and will not rotate. There are many methods to ‘sculpt’ and paths to the end result. Techniques vary as do the results. All the best.

it can be improved in next version …may be it will lock rotate while the cap lock key(or scroll lock )is on.

you can place a subtool behind the mesh like this:

the cube is for blocking the background and will be del :

THNX Marcus_civis, Doug Jones and Namdoyle for your quick reply’s. I think your solution definitely could help with this problem.

I think Namdoyle has a great point, this could be improved in a next version if more people have the same problem:D. Could be as simple as clicking a key that will stop the rotation. That will definitely keep thing speeding up. For me this would be very helpful.
