Still issues "Introducing Zbrush"

Im on chapter 4, yeah I know, I’m slow. Nothing works right when I try to reproduce what he says in the book.
Im on the “Introducing Zspheres” and I’m at the point where I am suposed to press “shift” while my mouse is over the previously newly stretched out zsphere. When I press it, I dont get a copy, all it does is turn the existing zsphere with it’s new extension white…no copy…
Any suggestions. I’m very frustrated. Im just at the beginning and I’m not having much success.

That function was removed in z4.
Gotta do it by hand.

Ok. So Im sculpting the vents in chapter 4. I’ve got something half way decent, but still am having issues in step 7 in the “introducing Zbrush.” I’m supposed to move the last Zsphere I created and move it back toward the center of the chain until it turns gray and the shading reverse. It is supposed to have a negative function(other than my reaction to when it doesnt work) and create a crater(subtractive Zsphere)…When I press the hotkey ‘a’ it’s supposed to show a beautiful small crater at the end of the form. Guess what? NOPE no such occurrence.

Please help. I’m doing everything it says. I have had to redo this chapter over 10 times already and I’m not getting anywhere with it other than frustrated as heck.

In order for that to work, you would have to ‘Use Classic Skinning’ (see image below). The same goes for ZSphere Magnets if you ever come across that in any tutorials. As to your first post, make sure you are in ‘Draw’ mode and not in ‘Move’, ‘Scale’, or ‘Rotate’ mode. Then holding down ‘Shift’ key and clicking anywhere will make a copy of the previously drawn ZSphere attached to the previously drawn ZSphere.
