Nice alien head, he has potential, keep at him. Will be keeping an eye out for updates.
a quick render, I’m not happy by how the sharpness is lost with sss, anyone have suggestions?

I really like him!
What you need to do now is, be very carefull not to do too much zbrush details… Just a few key wrinkle here and there (a la Alexia)

It looks like you’ve got some physical sculpting experience, am I right?..
Looking foward to seeing it devellop…
I wish I had some physical sculpting experience. Right now I’m trying to punch out the details more. I don’t like the blurry details
here’s another update
sorry for posting so much, I’m very happy that it’s turning out.

Love the way you’re getting those sharp definitions in there, since I can’t seem to do them well. Do you use the pinch brush for that?
Keep going, looks awesome
Very nice alien head indeed
I’m using the pinch tool, I usually build a bit of a cannal with the alt+std brush and then pinch it. I’m starting to get into the inflate brush more, trying to make the creases look more fleshy. I’m also using the technique of building up a ridge with th std brush, and then smoothing on both sides, but not the center. It helps build a sharp edge.
Your SSS shader is too much, knock it down. That is where so many people go wrong. It’s supposed to be subtle effect and only at certain surface normal angles to the camera. Try searching for the Pixolator Dino Shader and lights, it might be closer to what you like with some tweaking.
I have this sss set to a scale of 150, the default is one. I guess I should try a value of 300 or higher. Thanks for the reference to the dino shader!
some more tweaking, and a render from zbrush, the other render was from maya mental ray

dude, very nice facial muscles, i like it alot and a great design as well
This is great. I love how you have sharpened the form and blocked in the masses more completely!
Great job!
