Start ZBrush in texture mode?

Hey there!

Quick question, is it at all possible to initialize ZBrush in a sort of, texture mode?

Why I ask. I just got through 30 minutes of texture painting, only to realize that my smooth brush still had zadd enabled -_-

lol. Alternately, is there anyway to turn off zadd/zsub for all brushes? (like a switch or something)

Thank you kindly.

A couple options. There’s a custom toolbar as well as some custom UI’s on the forums and the possibility of you recording a script or macro which initializes your settings.

Thanks Doug!

While I don’t think I will go about recording any macro’s since I want zadd/sub disabled on ALL brushes, I will definitely check out the forums for those custom scripts / ui’s.

Any chance you have a link to those? No worries if not.

Hey Doug!

Thanks for the link man, unfortunately though it is of no use to me, though it looks like a wonderful script which I may end up trying anyways.

I appreciate the effort.

Cheers!

Presumably you only use a few brushes for polypainting? The simplest thing would be to save new versions of those brushes with ZAdd switched off. Save them to your ZStartup/Brush Presets folder and they will be available every time you start ZBrush. Perhaps give them names starting with Paint_ so you can easily identify them. You could then make them part of a custom interface arrangement, even a special UI that you used whenever you were painting, if you wanted.

Great idea! I may or may not do that. lol. While it seems like it may be cumbersome to set up I suppose it will probably help me avoid issues in the future.

Thanks marcus!
