Some more wip from the book

Amazing work as always! …Looking forward to adding this book to the prehistoric shelf.

Hi Zbrushers,

Ive just spent the last few weeks with my brand new Wanhao Duplicator 4x and its proving to be a game changer for me.

Its a weird kind of science melting plastic in layers and I just wanted to share my experiences with a few tips I have.

Lots of debate as to what material to use…either ABS or PLA. Both have advantages etc but Im sticking with ABS as it seems to hold the detail better on high resolution prints.

The biggest hurdle is simply making the material stick firmly to the printers glass plate…especially important when undertaking a 15 hour high res plate. The frustration of watching your print fail 7 or 8 hours in is a killer. People use heat resistant tape etc…my solution is to simply spread a thin layer of PVA white glue across the printers glass plate. The pre heating of the print plate cures the PVA and it makes for a perfect surface for the extruded ABS to stick to. I havent had a failed print since using this method and cleanup is a breeze. You simply take the plate with print attached and soak it in a bowl of water. The PVA dissolves and the model floats free.

The images show a high res T rex bust print along with a caracature puppet for a TV pilot now in production

Hi
Just another shot from the book…Battling Triceratops

I love the illustrations, the page Lay-out, the colors and the accuracy of the 3D Model. This kind of work is really inspiring to me…
You did everything in 4 months?!

These last pictures are great. It’s nice to see how you’ve improved with your rendering skills to the point where they look so real now. Great work. I’ve got 3 of your books here, you’ll have to sign them for me.

Thanks Guys.

Yup…47 dinosaurs in 4 months…had a three week rest where I had Viet Nam style flashbacks whenever I picked up my Wacom pen.

Would love a project that isnt dictated by stupidly short deadlines
