Stamp tool ?

Hallo,

I have a model from 3D scanning. It already looks pretty good but In some parts I miss detailed textures [skin pores]. On the bigger areas you can see nice details. But for example on finger area the little pore texture is gone. I want to ask you if there is some kind of Stamp Tool [like in Photoshop] with which I can easily copy texture from one part of the model to another.

I know about CLONE tool which do not work in edit mode [that’s a bad thing in this situation]. I want to stamp only detailed texture on the surface.

Grab document to alpha did not work. It did not catch all that little detail.

I tried to do screen capture of detailed view on skin with white matcap. Than I used curves in photoshop to create nice alpha channel. But when I applied it, It did not work properly. It would take a lot of time to tweak that grabbed alpha to work properly.

Any ideas ?

There may be a better way to do this, but you might try making a simple plane, subdividing it so that you have a wide range of levels of detail, and positioning that plane as a subtool where you want to capture detail. Then, project the detail from the scan onto the plane. You’ll end up with both the fine detail, as well as the larger forms/curves, which I know isn’t what you want. Once you’ve captured the detail you want, step down in subdiv levels so you can flatten out the larger contours, thereby leaving the fine details in-tact. From there, it would be pretty trivial to make an alpha and use it wherever you want.

Again, this could be stupid. Never tried it, but it’s one idea.
