Hi there!
I was adding characters to my reel and thought I would go for a mecha type creature. So a week later and here it is. It’s slightly inspired by Collossus from Starcraft, but it’s my original design more or less.
Looks great! It’s hard to distinguish the features itself, since they’re kinda lost in the myriad of designs and curves. But it looks good to me!
looks wicked i like it
very sharp and pointy. Maybe you should try coloring it. Lay down the right colors and the design will feel more unified.
I’ll tell you what it really gives me the feeling of something that would fit right in with stuff from the Final Fantasy games
I love it.
I like renders too.
Great sculpting!
Those renders (not the screencaps) are ALL Zbrush renders? Wow. What settings?
Alright, you’re just starting to piss me off now. You’re churning these out fast and still looking nice. You can really have some fun with colors, textures and materials with this one, looking forward to it.
Saw you were featured on 3D Totals front page, keep up the great work!
It’s more like a protoss stalker than a colossus, but however it’s an exellent work i like the details and the design U_U
Thanks for all your replies guys!
Update
I fixed knees as well as a few components, next step is to fix anything else per your critiques and then to pose / texture.
@Jerick and unonymouz:
As far as being too sharp / difficult to distinguish features, do you mean there are too many sharp /pointy objects or just too many jumbled details? Any suggestions? Should I remove certain elements/make it more clear you mean? Thanks for critiques anyhow!
@EricShawn, my mistake, the first 3 are mental ray clay renders, sorry for that =S
Thanks Arthaven, Morkiskrake, michalis, Range_Finder
@Morkiskake: yeah it’s more like stalker you’re right, not collossus, I even called it stalker lol, but I didn’t use any stalker references or anything, it’s my own design =), but it does look similar come to think of it

As far as design goes, you may want to put a groove where the geometry intersects at the joints OR limit the rotation of the joint so the geometry doesn’t intersect.
