sss shader crashes mental ray/maya

got my displacements/normal maps running in maya. As it is maya is super *itchy about having the zbrush .obj - so i have everything working and i decided to try some sss fast skin shader.

I apply the thing and just do a test render. after rendering a few tiles i get the “Mental Ray out of Memory” error and thats all she wrote, any suggestions?

FInished model should be around 4.5 million polies i think
