squid tenteacles

Hi could anyone help me please. I am modelling a squid and I have eight legs which all have the tentacles on. My initial plan was and it looked really great , was to crete one sucker, each sucker has little teeth all the way round and are like little plants coming out of the leg, then I would insert mesh brush and have the leg in dynamesh state, the only problem is that when you re-mesh you lose all the detail and a lot of the legs close ones merge together. I created one leg and put all the suckers on and without re-meshing it came out at 12 million pollys so eight of these would kill my machine off.

Please let me know hood I could keep all the detail as it look great with the little teeth around each suck thanks, Glen.

you could make a brush of one sucker and then DragRect them on the leg where you want them. That way, the resolution of the sucker is determined by the resolution of the leg , and the ployflow and UV’s of the leg will be preserved. If you want really fine detail though you need a really high poly count, you might wanna try HD sculpting.

Also, with dynamesh, it really depends on the resolution you set if it will melt parts together. Setting the blur to zero will keep your shape better when remeshing.
