Yes its the size. 3dsk images are huge. Use a .jpg to mark the textures and the full images in photoshop if you need them that big.
I have no problem with 3DSK images so long as I import them from the texture palette and not Lightbox. If I import from Lightbox, it will crash at some point. If I import them from the texture palette all is good.
Weird.
I’m getting this also, 2x 3dsk images (large pixel res, but not really huge in terms of memory)
first stroke in spotlight = crash. Fixing seams is impossible.
I will now try the steps listed to see if anything helps.
Shrinking images = no crash. bizarre! At least I can crack on now!
It’s gotta be some memory issue, or just zBrush in general being unable to handle images that big. It’s becoming quite a nuisance. Sounds like it should be pretty easy for them to replicate too. Just load a few images from 3dsk, and work with them for a few minutes.
We don’t have a single artist at work that can last longer than 2-3minutes with spotlight in combination with 3dsk images.
agreed, it is a pesky issue. If we had a way to vote for things to be looked at I would vote for this one above most others!
Why does this thread say this is answered when it is still occuring and we don’t know why?
I believe it’s a ZBrush memory issue too. Seems like large images crash Spotlight. Pixologic please look into this again as Spotlight is wonderful!
Pixologic have you been able to reproduce the problem yet?
I can’t catch it. Combination of actions resulting in a crash doesn’t work next time and requires few more iterations of it parts.
Seems to have something to do with switching paint mode and Spotlight on and off in different combinations. Though for me it always ends in the same way - spotlight off, drawing on object, when showing spotlight w/o wheel and draw again to project texture.
