Spotlight Image Overlay Persists in Projection Mode

Hi,

When entering Spotlight’s “projection” mode, the image I’m projecting through fails to disappear. I’ve never seen this in any of the tutorials I’ve watched, and there’s no mention of a show/hide toggle in any of the material I’ve read.

I know I can reduce the opacity, but even then it’s still really getting in my way. I just want it to hide while I paint!

What makes me wonder if it’s a glitch is that sometimes it corrects itself. One time it started working after I resized the image in “edit” mode. Another time it seemed to start working after I collapsed the Zbrush window and re-entered.

Finally - another spotlight-related issue here: Ctrl+z doesn’t work when I’m in spotlight projection mode. I have to go up and click one of the history states to undo. Is how it’s supposed to work?

Thanks in advance.

Z toggles the spotlight visibility on and off. Shift+Z turns Spotlight completely off and on.

Yes, pressing Z is what I’ve been doing. The point is that whether I enter projection mode or not, the image stays visible, obstructing the view of the area I’m trying to paint.

And yes, shift-z does turn off spotlight mode, but that’s not what I’m having a problem with.

You need to adjust the Spotlight Radius:

Thanks Marcus, that did the trick! It would explain why I managed to fix it by accident a couple times.

Just curious, does anyone know if this is a quirk/glitch, or is there a legit reason for the necessity of adjusting the radius in order to hide the overlay?

It would make sense to have a default setting. I imagine that it was just missed.
