Spotlight and Masks?

Hi,

I’ve recently discovered the power of Spotlight and it’s fantastic!

I just wondered though…will it work with masks? Every time I press the CNTL key to paint a mask – to isolate an eyelid, for example – the ZAdd brush comes on, which I don’t want to happen. I turn it off but –

Well, my main question is, “Can masks be used to isolate areas to be polypainted, when using Spotlight?”

Thanks,

Jan

Yes they can.

As far as Zadd coming on when you press Ctrl…Hold down Ctrl while you turn off Zadd and it will stay off. Then you can use Ctrl to paint your mask while Spotlight is active.

Thank you.

One more question, if I may?

How do I make sure Zbrush saves my polypainting on the tool, just in case my work gets interrupted? It saved fine yesterday, as long as I turned my obj into a Ztool, then today I opened the Ztool and bam – polypainting is all gone.

Thank you again for your help.

Jan

Every time you click “Save As” in the Tool menu and save as a ZTool (.ztl) file, it saves your Polypainting with it. I don’t know what you did or what happened in your case, but I have never had a situation where my polypainting wasn’t saved with the ZTool.

Who knows what I did?

If it can be done wrong, I will do it. But I thought that saving the obj as a Ztool would save the polypainting. Evidently, I hit the wrong button somewhere and wiped out my polypainting. I probably hit “Fill Object” by mistake or something.

Anyhow, thank you again. You have been wonderfully helpful.
