Spock Leonard Nimoy -- WIP

Hello first time posting here…well i have been at this for 2 weeks…hope for some critique
Post.jpg

Nice! extremely good likeness. I’m seeing something odd with the eyes – perhaps too round? not sure… its pretty close, just might need some makeup or something

Good work! The hair is what needs the most attention (and the eyebrows and eyelashes) in my opinion. As well as maybe a more flattering background (another color than gray even). The skin looks great and I like the sculpt. Those are my 2 cents!

well started the Fur coat…the background will change…
thnx to everyone:)

I don’t think the likeness is quite there yet. Some of the features need some tweaking.

can you be a bit more specific?

live forth and prosper,
great sculpt, and sick skin material, what program for the material? maya fast skin?
good job and proportions and hair and craftsmanship, this feels more like a illustrated character than a model of spock, i met him in person when he came to my synagogue, beth sholom in pa, he is much more youthful in person than in makup, i assume your basing the sculpt off the old spock from the most recent treck movie,
critique-

  1. eye brow line needs more weight in-comparison to the pictures of him,
his eye brows themselves look detached and floating
  2. wrinkles are accurate but are a little to heavily inflated, in the pictures he looks ten pounds lighter,
  3. great likeness and material add warmer reds to the skin either in the shader or as a post photoshop effect, the skin looks to cold, unless your referencing the cave scenes from the 2010 star treck movie

sorry for the long detailed post, but everything helps with attention to the big picture by looking at the details that support it

yea thanks…its nice to get a constructive critique ill try my best to improve those problems…
and the render is in 3dsMax mentalray exept for the hair its HairFarm…

I agree that it needs a little tweaking to make it more Spock-like. But you have a good start.

A question: I can’t remember how he looked in that last movie, but - was his nose really that big? And did it have that double point at its tip? If that’s the way it was - fine. Otherwise, it doesn’t look like the Spock of yester-year that I remember.

I looked at a picture in wikipedia of a younger Spock and it also seems that his eyes are little further apart.

The fur looks great. I look forward to seeing how you modify this picture.

Sorry I couldn’t be more specific earlier because I needed to go find a photo of old Spock to compare with your sculpt. I found one.
I think your Spock’s nose is too big and wide. The chin is too pointy. The top of the head tapers a little too much. The haircut is too straight across when compared with the photo. I think the eye area is the biggest problem. They’re too close for one thing. They just don’t look like Nimoy’s eyes to me.

I think it would help you tremendously to move the eyes as suggested and then pronounce and straighten the brows a bit more. He has a more square brow and it’s much stronger and pronounced in the photos of him.

He’s an interesting sculpt because he is so elegant and slender feeling, but his features are still very manly and squared at the same time.

Good luck, it’s a GREAT start!

well…after some feedback i got i decided to pose Spock and i tweaked the shape of the face a bit…so here is the ref…and how far i hot so far:)
Thank you Derek …I will use your reference of spock for the future:)
