Zbrush 4.0 for me is way faster when sculpting compared to R2/R2b.
It is easily observable when I turn lazymouse ON and change “lazy step” to low value 0.01, lazysmooth at 0 and lazy radius at 1 and try to sculpt 8 milion poly mesh. R2/R2b is several times slower with brush strokes basicly unable to follow my hand movements unless I do them really slow.
After trying to figure it out I noticed turning multidraw off actually made sculpting several times faster in R2/R2b (on 4 core cpu) while at the same time slowing down rotation/movement of viewport which totally does not make any sense. First I thought that is the source but then I noticed in 4.0 turning multidraw off also does speed up sculpting a bit although not by such huge factor.
Either way I use fast hand movements and 4.0 is way faster when sculpting on my q6600 compared to R2/R2b and I have no idea why. I literally would need several times more CPU power to have same sculpting performance in R2/R2b. Viewport rotation speed is the same.
I tried solving it with support but we could not find the source of it.
So did anyone have similar problem and found solution?
