Are there any good specular map painting tutorials for like a humanoid head? I know you paint from black to white black being the parts that dont get light and ect. but I dunno what spots reflect light and whatnot. Anyone have some tips or a link to a good head specular map tutuorial? (preferably aimed at Maya… )
For this, look at your own skin. The parts of your face that are naturally the oiliest will be the ones that have higher specularity. So the nose and forehead will usually have higher specularity than the rest of the face. Also above the upper lip.
Moisture plays a role as well, such as on the lips or if the character has been perspiring.
Suppose I was horrible disfigured and currently wear a metal mask and control a small country with hopes of world domination like Dr. Doom or something (Not saying I have ; ). Could you like post like a small 800x600 screen of ur specular map for a head? Pretty please = D
