Specular map and Keyshot

Hi guys
I came across a problem that I cant resolve. I am working on a character sculpted and painted in zbrush. I currently have only colour texture . I would like to paint specular map as well . And here is where the problem comes. I tried to uv my character and then to paint a specular and export it as a texture, but it seems that the mesh is somehow broken and zbrush crashes all the time. I tried to uv the it outside zbrush but the result is the same. So basically I cant use uvs in this case. I was thinking is there a way to paint another texture in zb then sent it as I polypaint data to keyshot and use it as a specular on the same object.

Thanks in advance

Any ideas guys or this is not possible at all…

Yes you can do that. Then just drag & drop the spec map onto the specular lacehoder in Keyshot.

Thanks Dillster. I am trying this but somehow it doesn’t work. As I said I have no uvs on the mesh. So the thing I do is to paint the spec on the same object then send it to Keyshot and use the polypaint data to drive the speculariry or the specular colour. The problem is that it doesn’t work.

I missed the no UV part in your post. Without UV’s, the spec map won’t fit properly if you drag or import it to Keyshot later. You will have to go through hoops trying to scale and move it correctly.
There are things you could try. Like duplicate the mesh and run ZRmesher on it. Then try UV Master to get a UV. If that works, you can Project All (including polypaint) from the original subtool to the duplicate. Then export the polypaint as a texture map so you can make the spec map from it for use in Keyshot later.
